Ronnie Boy

Ron Paul’s Extreme Domestic Policies Would Impoverish Many” by Justin Gero

My roommate and close friend Justin wrote an Op-Ed piece in the Drexel student newspaper and man, he got swamped! The Ron Paul interweb goons literally came out of the woodwork and put up a picket line in the comment section. Needless to say, they weren’t too happy. Nearly 350 comments were posted on the article. It’s a staggering number for The Triangle, which probably averages about 5 comments per article. If that.

I think it actually crashed the server the day that he posted the Op-Ed piece, just because of the traffic.

Anyway, at the risk of getting mobbed by Ron Paul-ians that have nothing better to do than stake-out blogs and start e-protests I’m going to throw my two cents in.

Ron Paul doesn’t really appeal to me. There, I said it. I wouldn’t vote for him! I met one campaign footsoldier and my initial impression was he didn’t really know very much about Ron Paul and seemed to be bandwagoning his campaign, rather than having any genuine interest in American politics or having any real comprehension of how the American government works, not to mention comprehending what consequences Ron Paul’s proposals (such as removing income tax) might entail. I mean, come on Ron, if you’re going to have some college dude giving out your flyers, at least make sure they can take a few questions without coming apart!

I mean come on. Being popular on the internet doesn’t mean anything. Lazy people join e-peitions because they’re too lazy to really do anything. Signing your name on a e-protest, or complaining in the comments on Digg is much easier than actually hoofing it down to DC and doing something about it

The War On Bullshit blog has a good few articles about Ron Paul which reflect some of my concerns about his policies and voting record

Anyway, I think it’s good that Justin wrote the piece. I approve of it. Anyone who doesn’t like it can picket my comments section. Or can they?
