Obvious Lies
A Question of Programming Ethics G-Archiver responds
It has come to our attention that a flaw in the coding of G-Archiver may have revealed customer's Gmail account usernames and passwords.
Oh, you mean you didn’t notice this bit of code when you were testing?
Code that sends e-mails with credentials that are baked into the application is always suspicious.
What happened was that a member of our development team had inserted coding used for testing G-Archiver in the debug version and forgot to delete it in the final release version.
If it smells like bullshit, it probably is bullshit. This one stinks to high heaven. Somehow this chunk of code just sailed right through review without anyone noticing and it’s all one guy’s fault.
