County Big Game 2006

The next batch of photos is from the County Big game in 2006. The County big game is actually the first event of the Summer of 2006, so it was actually before the photos that I posted in the previous entry.

Anyway, I came back to County with my Temple University apparel and equipment to show my school pride. As always, it was a fun time hanging out with friends and a welcome change from the stressful college tournament scene.

We had a pretty difficult year as a tournament team, and you tell by my body language.

We went up to Connecticut for a tournament in February and missed the finals by a few points, losing to Drexel University. The referees had deducted some points from the final match which allowed Drexel to continue to the finals while we were eliminated. Some of my teammates reacted very badly to the call and started to argue with the Drexel team and the field owners. I ended up apologizing to the field and Drexel for their behavior, in order to preserve our reputation for sportsmanlike conduct.

It was sad because Drexel had always practiced with us, and always went above and beyond to support us as a fledgling team. I remember we were even invited to some of their parties, and we invited them to some of ours, because we were such good friends. To have that kind of brotherhood thrown out the window because of some stupid calls was really terrible.

I ended up quitting the team because of these issues, and playing casually at places like County. Friendship is far more important!
